Italian motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi won eigth World Championships in Grand Prix racing by the time he was
28 years old, cementing his place as one of the sport's heroes.
Rossi is the son of 1970s racer Graziano Rossi, and he began racing as a teenager, first with karts, then with minimotos (minibikes). In his second season racing in the Grand Prix 125cc class, he won his first World Championship (1997).
Rossi moved up to the 250cc class and, in his second season, won the World Championship in 1999. He then moved up to the 500cc class, racing for Honda, and won the World Championship in 2001.
Since then he has won the revised MotoGP World Championship in 2002 and 2003 with Honda, and in 2004, 2005
and 2008 with Yamaha. As of the end of July 2009, he is leading the world
championship by 25 points on Jorge Lorenzo, his fellow teammate at Yamaha. =>

Charismatic, cocky and talented, he is a crowd favorite who went from being known as a clownish upstart to being dubbed "The Doctor" for his calculated and precise way of out-racing opponents.
Rossi wears the number 46 when he races, the same number his father used.
Rossi's famous pet dog was Guido, a British bulldog which he has had since 2000. As Rossi frequently travels the world Guido could not stay in London and was living mostly with her mother in Travullia. Rossi could only see the dog while visiting his mother there. Guido, whose image has been a mascot on Rossi’s bikes and helmets made several appearances. When lagging 32 points in the 2006 championship, Guido was dressed with an Inuit suit. Guido was also wearing a prisoner suit during the pre season tests

Guido died after the Australian GP and to pay tribute to him, the 2008 World Champion designed a special sticker made up of Guido sporting a pair of angel wings and floating on celestial clouds.

Guido's death has garnered so much attention that the death was mentioned in Italy's most prestigious sports newspaper the
Gazzetta dello Sport. The Dog even starred in Quarantasei, a graphic novel produced by
Milo Manara containing a fictional account of Valentino Rossi's adventures and eventual triumph in motorcycle racing (Guido was much the co-star of the book, Rossi's M1 motorcycle being the star of the show)
Since Guido's death, Rossi has now two new dogs (one male and one female).
During the Misano GP in 2009, right after Rossi's mistake during Indianapolis,
the two dogs were wearing donkey ears on Valentino's helmet .

VALENTINO ROSSI IS WORLD CHAMPION MOTOGP 2009 !!!! Please visit and translate on http://www.ValentinoRossi.fr/Blog
